DIRECT INPUT

The Challenge

The DI challenge was to do something fun for Christmas that would raise the profile of the company within the wider community while raising money for charity.

The Solution

In the wake of the announcement that the GBBO was no more we decided to launch Jersey’s first Great Christmas Bake Off.

The first step was to enlist the help of Antoinette De Louche, Head of Food and Nutrition at Jersey College for Girls, to be our Mary Berry style judge.

Next we contacted our clients and local businesses to encourage companies to bake a Christmas themed cake. This would then be judged by Antoinette in a blind tasting akin to the technical challenge on the GBBO.

To push the competition further we then organised a social media competition to judge the best design.

On the day all cakes entered were donated to a cake sale held on King Street. Throughout the lunch break we were able to talk to the general public about Direct Input and raise money for the Jersey Christmas Appeal through donations for slices of cake.

The Result

A competition with 11 entries from different companies in Jersey. Interview with BBC Radio Jersey. Coverage before and after the event with Channel TV. In house social media success with Facebook Live videos, an Instagram advert and lots of activity on the DI page.

Several requests for a repeat competition on a larger scale next year.
