JERSEY EMPLOYMENT TRUST

The Challenge

The Jersey Employment Trust is a charity whose aim is to empower islanders with a disability and/or long-term health condition through gaining and maintaining open employment. Acorn Enterprises, the retail outlet of JET, secured the contract to be the official Reuse partner at the new La Collette Household Reuse and Recycling Park.

The DI Challenge was to successfully communicate Acorn’s involvement in the project. Firstly, to communicate to the general public how the Reuse centre worked and where Islanders could subsequently buy the upcycled products. Secondly, DI needed to ensure that Islanders understood that all money made would be reinvested back into the charity.

The Solution

An ongoing Facebook campaign was planned to tell the story behind the Acorn Reuse Centre. To emphasise JET’s involvement with the Household Reuse and Recycling Park DI filmed a behind the scenes Facebook live video of the launch.

Our next Facebook live video took place at the ARC to give Facebook viewers an insider view of some of the items donated. While filming we interviewed staff so they could share the ARC’s goals with viewers. A follow up video then took place at the Acorn shop in Trinity to explain where the donated items went and how could they be purchased

The Result

A series of Facebook Live videos reaching over 20,000 Facebook users, over 200 likes and over 50 shares. An ongoing Facebook photo campaign highlighting different items that are on sale at the Acorn shop in Trinity. Videos released on Facebook highlighting how to drop off items for reuse.
